What It Does

Forminator is not your typical form-making plugin. It is an easy-to-use WordPress form builder suitable for any website and situation. You can create various forms such as contact forms, order forms, payment forms, feedback widgets, interactive polls, and quizzes.

The drag and drop visual builder simplifies the setup process, allowing you to add forms effortlessly to your WordPress site. Forminator helps collect information, engage users, and boost conversions.

Unlock all form fields and premium addons with Forminator Pro, which offers exclusive features like Stripe subscription forms and dynamic PDF generation. Start accepting payments with integrated Stripe and PayPal options without needing a Pro upgrade.

Forminator also allows for interactive polls, quizzes, and calculations to enhance user interaction. With built-in integrations for over 1000 apps, it connects smoothly with popular services like HubSpot, MailChimp, and Google Sheets.

Comparing to Alternatives

Forminator competes in a crowded form builder space, going up against both lightweight contact form tools and full-featured builders with payment and multi-step capabilities. Its broad feature set positions it closer to premium-grade builders while remaining free.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Rich feature set including payments, quizzes, polls, and file uploads in the free version
Intuitive drag-and-drop interface praised by users of all skill levels
Strong Stripe/payment integration used successfully by nonprofits and small businesses
Frequent updates and active development
Generous free tier that rivals paid competitors

Weaknesses

Long history of security vulnerabilities, including several critical-rated issues
Occasional feature reliability concerns, such as email notification failures
Some users cite a recurring pattern of security lapses as a reason to switch

User Sentiment Analysis

With 2,121 ratings and a 4.8/5 average, sentiment is overwhelmingly positive—93% of reviews are 5-star and only 2.7% fall into the 1-2 star range. The small number of negative reviews focus heavily on security and specific functional bugs rather than usability.

Positive highlights

"Forminator is even better than the one I paid lifetime access for" — sahinnovations
"Powerful, easy, and good support... very easy to include credit card payment fields" — tbowenwso
"A great free plugin with file upload, conditional control features, payment... regularly updated" — boabo

"This plugin is so easy to use and really reliable" — ember89

Common complaints

Concerns about a recurring pattern of security vulnerabilities and the developer's security posture
Admin email notifications failing to send in some setups

Weaknesses

Extensive vulnerability history including a critical-rated unauthenticated arbitrary file upload flaw
Multiple high-severity stored XSS and privilege escalation issues reported across recent versions
Reliance on prompt updates to stay protected, given the frequency of disclosed flaws

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Forminator suits users who want a feature-rich, free form builder capable of handling payments, quizzes, polls, and complex conditional logic without needing a premium upgrade. It's a strong fit for nonprofits, small businesses, and site builders who value ease of use and are diligent about applying plugin updates promptly.

Not ideal for

Given its extensive vulnerability history—including critical file upload and injection flaws—this plugin is less suitable for security-sensitive sites or teams that can't guarantee timely updates. Users who prioritize a minimal attack surface may prefer a simpler, less feature-dense alternative.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version is unusually generous, offering payment integrations (including Stripe), file uploads, conditional logic, quizzes, polls, and confirmation emails—features many competitors reserve for paid tiers.

Pro version (3.50 - 8.25 USD / month)

Forminator Pro typically adds advanced integrations, additional payment gateways, more customization options, and priority support, building on an already feature-rich free foundation.

Final Verdict

Forminator earns its strong 4.8-star rating through genuine ease of use, a feature set that rivals premium competitors, and a free tier generous enough to satisfy nonprofits and small businesses alike. Reviewers consistently praise its intuitive interface, payment handling, and reliability compared to other form builders they've tried.

However, the plugin's extensive security history—spanning critical file upload vulnerabilities, stored XSS, and privilege escalation issues over several years—is a legitimate concern that a couple of reviewers explicitly flagged. Prospective users should weigh Forminator's excellent functionality and pricing against the operational discipline required to keep it patched, and consider alternatives like WS Form or Fluent Forms if a lighter security footprint is a priority.
