What It Does

WPForms is a drag and drop WordPress form builder that is easy and powerful. You can create contact forms, feedback forms, subscription forms, payment forms, and other types of forms for your site in just a few clicks.

User experience is the top priority at WPForms. With pre-built form templates and workflows, it is the most beginner-friendly contact form plugin available. You can create a form in less than 5 minutes without any coding skills.

WPForms Lite is the free version of WPForms Pro, which includes additional features such as email subscription forms, multi-page contact forms, file uploads, and conditional logic. You can easily upgrade to the premium version for more advanced functionalities.

Comparing to Alternatives

WPForms sits among a crowded field of WordPress form builders, but its polish and support reputation set it apart. Plugins like Fluent Forms, Forminator, and Ninja Forms compete closely on features and pricing, while Contact Form 7 remains the go-to lightweight option for simpler needs.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Intuitive drag-and-drop builder praised repeatedly for ease of use
Responsive, helpful customer support noted by multiple long-term users
Clean, professional-looking forms out of the box
Wide range of integrations, including payment and email marketing tools

Weaknesses

Free version restricts core functionality like entry storage and essential fields
Pricing can feel steep for users who only need basic contact forms
Longer history of security vulnerabilities compared to some newer competitors

User Sentiment Analysis

With a 4.8/5 average across over 14,000 ratings, sentiment is overwhelmingly positive—94% of reviewers give five stars, and only about 3% leave a 1 or 2-star rating. The tone in recent reviews is consistently appreciative of ease of use and support quality.

Positive highlights

"Plug-in itself is very user friendly and when you do have an issue support are usually quick to respond" — GlitteringFish

Common complaints

Free version doesn't display form entries, limiting practical use without upgrading
Perceived high cost for what some feel is basic functionality, including a reported $200 annual renewal
Missing essential fields and styling options in the free version, such as phone number fields, headings, and color controls
Forms failing to send without warning, causing lost leads
Unresponsive support for paying Pro customers on specific addon issues
Update failures citing gateway timeout errors

Weaknesses

Free tier feels deliberately limited to push upgrades, frustrating some users
Occasional reports of email delivery failures that could affect business-critical forms

Who Should Use This?

Best for

WPForms is well-suited to WordPress site owners and small businesses who want a reliable, easy-to-use form builder with strong customer support, and who are willing to invest in the paid tiers to unlock entry management, advanced fields, and integrations like payments.

Not ideal for

Users seeking a fully-featured free form builder, or those wary of a plugin's security track record, may want to look elsewhere. The 21 recorded vulnerabilities—including a high-severity payment and subscription authorization flaw—mean staying current with updates is essential, and budget-conscious users may find the free version too restrictive for real-world use.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free WPForms Lite version offers a basic drag-and-drop builder and simple contact forms, but many core conveniences—such as viewing form entries within WordPress, advanced fields, and styling controls—are reserved for paid tiers, which has frustrated some free users.

Pro version (49.50 - 299.50 USD / year)

Paid plans unlock entry management, conditional logic, payment integrations (including credit card processing), marketing integrations, templates, and premium support. Pricing tiers scale with site count and feature access, though some reviewers found annual renewal costs steep for their needs.

Final Verdict

WPForms earns its strong reputation through ease of use, clean output, and consistently praised customer support, reflected in its high overall rating. However, the free version's real-world usability is limited, and pricing complaints appear among the minority of dissatisfied users, alongside occasional reports of delivery failures and unresponsive support for paid customers.

The plugin's long vulnerability history, including a high-severity authorization flaw, is worth noting even though issues have been consistently patched. For most users who value reliability and support and are willing to pay for full functionality, WPForms remains a solid choice—but those wanting a robust free tier or a spotless security record may prefer alternatives like Fluent Forms or Contact Form 7.
