Comparing to Alternatives

SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle competes in a crowded page builder ecosystem, most directly complementing its sibling Page Builder by SiteOrigin, while facing broader competition from feature-rich builders like Elementor and Beaver Builder.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Widely praised, highly responsive support team
Seamless integration with Page Builder by SiteOrigin
Free and fully functional without paywalls
Wide variety of ready-to-use widgets for common design needs
Strong track record of long-term maintenance and updates

Weaknesses

Frequent updates can be burdensome for site maintenance
History of multiple XSS and authorization vulnerabilities over time
Less modern interface compared to newer builders like Elementor or Brizy

User Sentiment Analysis

With a 4.9/5 average from 134 ratings and 94% five-star reviews, sentiment toward SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle is overwhelmingly positive. Only one review falls into the 1-2 star range, indicating very high overall satisfaction.

Positive highlights

"Siteorigin really does a great job by developing & upgrade their plugins and deliver one of the best support for the wordpress community!" — Sparen
"I am amazed how fast and constructive the support works, IF there is a problem." — firefighter
"The plugins themselves are great and make life as a non-coder so easy but wow, team went above and beyond thanks!" — prellyan1
"Site Origin themes and plugins are powerful tools for developing beautiful, dynamic websites." — jaywren

Common complaints

Weaknesses

Frequency of updates (12+ in a year, per one reviewer) can complicate site maintenance
History of ten known vulnerabilities, mostly medium-severity stored XSS and authorization issues, though all have been patched
No 1-2 star reviews to draw broader complaint patterns from, limiting insight into edge-case frustrations

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Ideal for users already running Page Builder by SiteOrigin who want an expanded library of free, flexible widgets, especially non-coders who value strong, responsive support and a no-cost feature set.

Not ideal for

Not ideal for security-cautious site owners with many contributor-level or subscriber-level users, given the plugin's history of authorization and stored XSS vulnerabilities, or for those who prefer infrequent update cycles.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers a complete set of widgets (sliders, image grids, blog displays, buttons, and more) that integrate directly with Page Builder by SiteOrigin, with no functional restrictions blocking core usage.

Pro version (29 - 99 USD / year)

SiteOrigin offers premium upgrades bundled with its Page Builder ecosystem, typically including additional widget styling options, priority support, and access to premium themes, though the widgets bundle itself remains usable at no cost.

Final Verdict

SiteOrigin Widgets Bundle earns its strong 4.9-star reputation through dependable functionality, a generous free feature set, and support that reviewers repeatedly single out as exceptional. Its tight integration with Page Builder by SiteOrigin makes it a natural companion for that ecosystem, and the near-total absence of negative reviews reflects genuine user satisfaction.

That said, its lengthy vulnerability history, ten issues ranging from stored XSS to authorization flaws, warrants some caution, particularly for multi-author sites, even though all have been resolved in updates. Combined with a demanding update cadence, this plugin suits users who stay current with patches and want a well-supported, cost-free widget library, but security-conscious teams may want to weigh newer, actively hardened alternatives like Elementor or Beaver Builder.
