Advanced Custom Fields: Font Awesome Field

Once an excellent plugin, then for a year or two mostly abandoned with lacking support for newer FA styles. As of December 2025 it is now updated and active again thanks to a new contributor, supporting all the latest FA7 styles. Kudos for bringing this useful plugin back to life.

This was an excellent plugin for a long time, but it has fallen off in the past year. Currently the plugin is largely abandoned with no sight of receiving support for FA7. It also doesn’t seem to fully support some of the FA6 variants properly either, so it doesn’t line up with the actual options Font Awesome itself is providing. Duotone support is lacking bad, as it only has 2 of the 8 duotone options from FA6. This is what triggered the review, since I can’t even fully use it with FA6. It is unfortunate, because the functionality is there for kits already. I would assume support for the remaining FA6 styles would be relatively simple to add, and I doubt FA7 and its styles are much different since it seems to utilize the same kit system.

It’s one of those plugins, that does a job perfectly and discreetly, without trying to dominate the dashboard or upsell.After adding it for yet another site, I thought I could at least write a review in appreciation, so thanks Matt, for your time and efforts, it’s appreciated.
