What It Does

Taxonomy Filter is a simple and flexible plugin that allows users to filter hierarchical term taxonomies inside admin pages. If you need to simplify your tags and categories research on admin pages, this plugin will make it easier for you. It adds a custom input field for configured taxonomies that you can use to filter every taxonomy list.

Imagine having too many tags on your post admin page and losing time scrolling through a long list of items or searching for a tag with the classic browser search box. With the Taxonomy Filter plugin, you can search, choose, and select tags in a very short time, providing a great gain in efficiency!

Additionally, you can set up which taxonomies should have the Taxonomy Filter activated. When you install and activate the plugin, an admin page is added in the settings section. This page automatically lists all valid taxonomies, giving you two options: enable on post management pages or hide the filter field if the taxonomy is empty.

You can also manage taxonomy filters in the bulk edit section for quick edits. If your theme has changed post columns using the manage_edit-post_columns filter, you need to add another filter to apply the taxonomy filter in the bulk section. It works only with hierarchical taxonomies, including both default categories and custom taxonomies.

When you enable a taxonomy filter, a section for choosing hidden taxonomy terms is displayed in user profile pages and term edit pages. You can select a list of taxonomy terms to be removed from hierarchical term taxonomies inside admin pages for each user. By default, all taxonomy terms are visible, but you can choose to hide specific terms, and all their children will also be removed from admin pages.

To use the plugin, go to WP-Admin -> Posts -> Add New and find the input filter field on the page sidebar to select tags filtering list.
