What It Does

This plugin enables Google Analytics for your entire WordPress site. It is lightweight and fast, providing a range of great features.

To enable Google Analytics 4, follow the steps to create a GA4 account and add your tracking ID to the plugin settings. Save changes and wait 24-48 hours before viewing collected data.

The plugin supports various tracking methods, including Google Analytics 4, and offers features like blazing fast performance, easy customization, and the ability to disable tracking for admin users.

For more advanced features, consider the Pro version, which includes additional options like visitor opt-out boxes and multiple tracking codes.

Comparing to Alternatives

The Google Analytics integration space on WordPress is crowded, with options ranging from lightweight code injectors to full analytics dashboards. GA Google Analytics positions itself as a simple, no-bloat solution for adding tracking code without heavy dashboard overhead.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Lightweight approach without dashboard bloat or unnecessary junk
Ability to disable tracking for admin-level users
Simple setup for basic Google Analytics code insertion
Strong overall rating with a very high proportion of 5-star reviews
Zero known vulnerabilities recorded in security scans

Weaknesses

No built-in eCommerce/WooCommerce tracking options
Lacks the in-dashboard analytics reporting that competitors like MonsterInsights or ExactMetrics offer
Some users report difficulty with GDPR/consent management and Pro key activation

User Sentiment Analysis

With a 4.9/5 average from 159 ratings, sentiment is overwhelmingly positive—94.3% of reviewers gave 5 stars, and only 2.5% left a 1-2 star review. The tone across recent reviews highlights simplicity and reliability as the plugin's core strengths.

Positive highlights

"fantastic plugin mega dzięki" — piema
"I want this plugin as it gives me more flexibility in monitoring the website visitors" — sikking

Common complaints

No option to track WooCommerce/eCommerce data

Weaknesses

Some users report trouble with GDPR/EU consent management and connection reliability
Pro version setup (license key activation) has caused confusion for at least one user
Missing native eCommerce tracking may push WooCommerce store owners toward other plugins

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Ideal for website owners who want a straightforward way to insert Google Analytics tracking code without a bloated dashboard or extra admin clutter. Particularly suited to users who want to exclude admin-level visits from their stats and prefer a minimal-footprint plugin.

Not ideal for

Not the best fit for WooCommerce store owners needing eCommerce tracking, or for users wanting built-in GDPR/consent management and in-depth analytics reporting inside the WordPress dashboard. No security vulnerabilities are recorded, so security is not a concern here.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version covers the core need: connecting Google Analytics tracking code to a WordPress site simply and without bloat, including the ability to exclude admin users from tracking.

Pro version (35 - 180 USD / lifetime)

The Pro version appears to add more advanced monitoring flexibility, though some users have reported friction during license key activation and setup.

Final Verdict

GA Google Analytics earns strong praise for doing one job well: inserting Google Analytics tracking code cleanly, without dashboard bloat. With a 4.9/5 rating from 159 reviews and a clean security record showing zero known vulnerabilities, it's a low-risk, dependable choice for straightforward tracking needs. Users particularly appreciate its lightness compared to heavier alternatives like MonsterInsights.

That said, it isn't the right fit for everyone—WooCommerce sellers will find no native eCommerce tracking, and a few reviewers cited GDPR consent handling and Pro activation issues. Given the vast number of alternatives available, from full dashboard solutions like ExactMetrics and Site Kit to privacy-focused options like WP Statistics, this plugin is best suited to those who value simplicity over feature depth.

FAQ

Check out the top of this page, first section provides the steps to add GA4 to your site.

By default the plugin includes the auto parameter in the tracking code:

ga('create', 'GA-123456789000', 'auto');

However some tracking techniques (such as Site Speed Sample Rate) require replacing the auto parameter. To do it:

First disable the auto parameter by adding the following code to WordPress functions or custom plugin:

// GA Google Analytics - Disable auto parameter function ga_google_analytics_enable_auto($enable) { return false; } add_filter('ga_google_analytics_enable_auto', 'ga_google_analytics_enable_auto');

Now that auto is disabled, you can replace it with your own parameter(s). For example, to implement Universal Analytics Site Speed Sample Rate, enter the following code in the plugin setting “Custom Tracker Objects”:

{'siteSpeedSampleRate': 100}

Save changes and done. The resulting tracking code will now look like this:

ga('create', 'GA-123456789000', {'siteSpeedSampleRate': 100});

So can adjust things as needed to add any parameters that are required.
