What It Does

The ExactMetrics Google Analytics for WordPress plugin helps you properly setup all the powerful Google Analytics tracking features without writing any code or hiring a developer.

Over 1 million users love ExactMetrics because of our signature Google Analytics Dashboard that helps you view key Google Analytics stats right inside your WordPress dashboard.

Our goal at ExactMetrics is to help you grow your business faster with data-driven decisions.

This is why we built the most comprehensive Google Analytics plugin for WordPress, so you can setup all the powerful tracking features that website owners otherwise miss out on when simply pasting the analytics code in WordPress.

ExactMetrics works automatically with Google Analytics 4 (GA4) so that your website can be prepared for the future of Google Analytics.

We made the same advanced Google analytics setup that big enterprise companies used to pay thousands of dollars for, available to every small business owner without the high costs.

This is why even large companies like Microsoft, Quickbooks, and Pizza Hut are using ExactMetrics to properly setup Google Analytics and see custom analytics reports in WordPress.

ExactMetrics Pro is the premium version of this plugin that comes with all the Google analytics tracking features you will ever need including events tracking, ecommerce tracking, and custom dimensions tracking.

Comparing to Alternatives

ExactMetrics operates in a crowded field of Google Analytics integration plugins, ranging from lightweight free tools to feature-rich dashboards. Many alternatives offer similar or deeper functionality without the same volume of user frustration.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Direct integration with Google Analytics data inside the WordPress dashboard
Established brand with dedicated support staff
Simple setup process for connecting a Google account
Widely recognized name in the analytics plugin space

Weaknesses

Many useful features are locked behind a paid upgrade
History of authorization and access-control vulnerabilities
Free version is reported by users as offering very limited actionable data

User Sentiment Analysis

With nearly 61% of 1,546 ratings falling into the 1-2 star range, sentiment toward ExactMetrics skews heavily negative, even though a substantial 34.9% of users still give it a full 5 stars, suggesting a polarized user base rather than uniform dissatisfaction.

Positive highlights

Enrico praised the plugin overall, though nostalgic for an older version's design
nuts4stuff highlighted excellent support, noting that 'Michelle was very helpful' in resolving an issue
dm1tr5ou called it 'Super!' and 'very useful'
fierromig gave a simple but enthusiastic endorsement: 'Great plugin! Give it a try.'

Common complaints

The plugin simply doesn't work for some users, even as a Jetpack alternative
Free version requests extensive Google account permissions but then restricts most functionality behind paywalls, leaving the dashboard feeling limited

Weaknesses

Six recorded vulnerabilities including high-severity arbitrary plugin installation issues
Multiple authorization and access-control flaws affecting Editor and Subscriber roles
Perceived mismatch between data permissions requested and free functionality delivered

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Users who want a recognized, brand-name analytics dashboard and are prepared to pay for the Pro version to unlock meaningful reporting features may find value here, especially if they prioritize responsive support.

Not ideal for

Site owners seeking robust free analytics, or those cautious about security given the plugin's history of authorization vulnerabilities and arbitrary plugin installation issues, should look elsewhere. Users uncomfortable granting broad Google account permissions for a limited free dashboard will likely be disappointed.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version connects your site to Google Analytics and displays basic stats within the WordPress dashboard, but user feedback suggests the actionable insights are minimal, with many features gated behind upgrades.

Pro version (99.50 - 399.50 USD / year)

The Pro version typically unlocks advanced reporting, eCommerce tracking, custom dimensions, form conversion tracking, and more detailed dashboard analytics beyond the basic free overview.

Final Verdict

ExactMetrics presents a mixed picture: a loyal segment of users appreciates its dashboard integration and support quality, but the majority of recent ratings reflect significant frustration, particularly around paywalled features and functionality that doesn't meet expectations after granting Google account access.

Combined with a concerning security history—including high-severity vulnerabilities allowing unauthorized plugin installation—this plugin warrants caution. Users seeking dependable free analytics or a stronger security track record should strongly consider alternatives like Site Kit by Google or WP Statistics before committing to ExactMetrics.
