Who Should Use This?

Best for

Website builders and agencies who want a feature-rich Gutenberg block library backed by responsive, hands-on support, and who are diligent about keeping plugins updated promptly.

Not ideal for

Site owners running multi-author or open-registration sites with lower trust in contributor-level users, or those who cannot guarantee timely updates, given the plugin's extensive history of contributor-exploitable XSS and other vulnerabilities.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers a wide range of customizable Gutenberg blocks suitable for building responsive pages without coding, along with the option to disable unused blocks to keep the editor lightweight.

Pro version (49 - 149 USD / year)

Essential Blocks Pro typically expands on the free offering with additional advanced blocks, deeper customization options, and premium templates, as referenced by users who upgraded for more design flexibility alongside continued access to the plugin's well-regarded support.

Final Verdict

Essential Blocks earns strong user loyalty, driven largely by an exceptionally responsive support team and a versatile set of Gutenberg blocks that make page building accessible without coding. The near 4.9-star rating and minimal negative feedback reflect a plugin that delivers on its core promise for the vast majority of users.

However, its extensive vulnerability history, including a critical local file inclusion flaw and recurring stored XSS issues, is a legitimate concern, especially for multi-author sites. Given strong alternatives like Kadence Blocks, Spectra, and Stackable offer comparable functionality, prospective users should weigh Essential Blocks' support quality against its security track record and commit to prompt updates if they choose it.
