With Backuply, you can be confident that your data is protected and is always available for restore during any disaster. Backuply creates full backups of your website and you can restore it to the same or a new WordPress website with the click of a button.

Our backup and website cloning technology have been in use for more than a decade and we have now ported it to WordPress.

Backup is a way of copying your data or files to a secure place, which can be used to restore your website in case of data loss. Backups are vital in securing the data that you have published or written. Backups with Backuply are easy and secure with support for multiple options of storage like local storage using FTP or using third-party services like Google Drive, Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, AWS S3 and WebDAV.

To make it even easier we support Automatic Backups with a customizable backup schedule.

Restoring is just a One-Click process using Backuply. If the selected backup is available then Backuply will restore your backups safely. Restoring a backup will roll back your site in the exact same state as it was when the backup was created.

Backuply creates a tar file of your whole WordPress install with the Database, so you can migrate your site to any host or location where WordPress can be installed. All you need to do is create a Backup of your WordPress install on a remote location, and that’s it, It can be synced on any WordPress install with ease so you just need to restore the synced backup on the new location for Migration to happen.

Comparing to Alternatives

Backuply competes in one of the most crowded categories in the WordPress plugin repository, going up against long-established names as well as newer entrants. It holds its own on ease of use, though the sheer number of alternatives means users have plenty of options if they hit issues.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Straightforward, uncluttered interface praised by multiple reviewers
Supports multiple storage destinations including cloud services like Google Drive
Free tier is generous enough for many users without constant upsells
Responsive support team noted for fixing site-specific issues promptly

Weaknesses

History of serious vulnerabilities, including a critical SQL injection flaw
Reports of backups stalling or hanging at fixed percentages on some sites
Local backup files not automatically cleaned up after successful cloud uploads

User Sentiment Analysis

With 135 ratings, Backuply skews heavily positive: 87.4% are 5-star, and only 11.9% fall into the 1-2 star range. The overall tone is enthusiastic, with many users highlighting reliability and ease of use, though a vocal minority report the backup process failing to complete.

"Been running this for over a year now and it has been very solid and reliable... excellent support" — Nigel Harpur

Process hanging for extended periods, sometimes hours, before failing
Plugin failing to start the backup at all despite trying alternatives first

Weaknesses

Multiple past vulnerabilities including a critical SQL injection and unauthenticated denial of service flaws
Backup process reliability issues reported by a subset of users, particularly stalling mid-process
No automatic cleanup of local backup copies when using remote storage destinations

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Backuply suits site owners who want a simple, no-frills backup and restore tool without constant upgrade nagging, particularly those running smaller to mid-sized WordPress or Elementor sites. It's a good fit for users who value straightforward cloud storage integration and are comfortable keeping the plugin updated.

Not ideal for

Users with strict security requirements should note the plugin's history of five vulnerabilities, including a critical SQL injection issue, and should ensure they're always running the latest version. Those managing larger or more complex sites may also want to be cautious given reports of backups stalling partway through.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers core backup, restore, and migration functionality along with support for cloud storage destinations, and several reviewers note it's sufficient for typical site needs without feeling limited.

Pro version (18 - 48 USD / year)

A paid tier is available, typically expanding on storage destination options, scheduling flexibility, priority support, and advanced migration or cloning features for users managing multiple or larger sites.

Final Verdict

Backuply earns strong user goodwill through its simple interface and dependable performance for most users, as reflected in its 4.5-star average and high proportion of 5-star reviews. Support responsiveness is a recurring highlight, and the free tier appears genuinely useful rather than a stripped-down teaser for upsells.

That said, prospective users should weigh two real concerns: a track record of five security vulnerabilities, including a critical SQL injection flaw, and a recurring complaint pattern of backups stalling mid-process. Given the crowded field of alternatives like UpdraftPlus and Duplicator, Backuply is worth trying for smaller sites, but users should keep it updated diligently and monitor backup completion rather than assuming success.
