What It Does

Yoast Duplicate Post is a versatile plugin that enables users to clone posts of any type or copy them to new drafts for further editing. With this plugin, you can quickly create duplicates of your content, making it easier to manage and publish similar posts.

To use the plugin, simply go to the 'Edit Posts' or 'Edit Pages' section, where you can click on the 'Clone' link below the post or page title. This action will create an immediate copy and return you to the list of posts. You can also select multiple items and use the 'Bulk Actions' dropdown to clone them all at once.

Additionally, the plugin provides options to create new drafts directly from the post edit screen or while viewing a post as a logged-in user. The flexibility of Duplicate Post allows you to customize its behavior and restrict its use based on user roles or post types.

For more information, check out the extensive documentation available on the official Yoast website and the developer documentation. You can also contribute to the plugin by reporting bugs or suggesting features on GitHub.

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Bloggers, content teams, and site builders who need a fast, reliable way to duplicate individual posts or pages without complex bulk workflows. It's especially handy for users of page builders like Elementor who want to reuse layouts quickly.

Not ideal for

Larger content operations needing advanced bulk duplication features, or security-conscious site owners wary of the plugin's history of vulnerabilities, even though known issues have been resolved in current versions.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers full duplication functionality — cloning posts, pages, and custom post types, preserving formatting and custom fields, with no feature restrictions for typical use cases.

Final Verdict

Yoast Duplicate Post remains a dependable, well-loved tool for cloning content quickly, backed by strong user sentiment and the credibility of the Yoast name. Most complaints are minor — missing bulk features or small copy inconsistencies — rather than dealbreakers, and the one standout 1-star complaint centers on an annoying admin notice rather than core functionality.

The plugin's security history, including a past critical vulnerability, is worth noting even though all known issues have been fixed. Given its free pricing, ease of use, and solid alternatives available if needs grow more complex, it's a safe recommendation for most users seeking simple, no-cost duplication.

FAQ

First, check your version of WordPress: the plugin is not supposed to work on old versions anymore. Make sure also to upgrade to the last version of the plugin!

Then try to deactivate and re-activate it, some user have reported that this fixes some problems.

Pay also attention to the “Permissions” tab in the Settings: make sure the plugin is enabled for the desired roles and post types.

If it still doesn’t work, maybe there is some kind of conflict with other plugins: feel free to write in the forum and we’ll try to discover a solution (it will be really helpful if you try to deactivate all your other plugins one by one to see which one conflicts with mine… But do it only if you know what you’re doing, I will not be responsible of any problem you may experience).
