What It Does

This plugin provides a field for Advanced Custom Fields that allows users to crop their images to a specific aspect ratio or pixel size after uploading. This feature is particularly useful for responsive image use cases.

Once the image is cropped, a new variant is created in the gallery and saved to the post. Thumbnails for the new image are also generated. Users can re-crop the original image at any time from the post page.

The cropped image variants are hidden by default in the media browser and on the media page, but they can be viewed by selecting the 'list view' on the media page.

There are three modes of operation: aspect ratio, pixel size, and free crop. Users can select their preferred option when creating the field in ACF field options.

Aspect ratio mode allows users to crop images to a specific ratio like 16:9 without concern for pixel size. In pixel size mode, users must select an area larger than the defined pixel size. Free crop mode allows cropping without aspect ratio limitations.
