What It Does

The wishlist is one of the most powerful and popular tools in an ecommerce shop. Thanks to the wishlist, users can save their favourite products, find them quickly and easily at a later time and buy them.

Users can share the wishlist with relatives and friends for Christmas, birthdays and similar occasions so they can buy them one of the products from the list. This means that you’ll be able to loyalise customers, push them to buy and attract new customers any time a wishlist is shared.

Our YITH WooCommerce Wishlist has more than 900,000 active installations and that’s why it’s the most popular wishlist plugin ever. To celebrate this record and say thanks to all the plugin users, we’ve decided to release a new 3.0 version that has improved the design tremendously and added many new options.

The free version of our plugin works like a charm, but the premium one is an even more powerful tool to increase sales and conversions. By upgrading to the premium version, you can view the wishlists created by logged-in customers, send promotional emails to users who have added a specific product to their wishlist, and much more.

Comparing to Alternatives

YITH WooCommerce Wishlist is one of the most established wishlist plugins for WooCommerce, but it faces stiff competition from a crowded field of alternatives, many of which are positioned as more affordable or more actively maintained options.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Well-known brand with long track record in the WooCommerce ecosystem
Easy setup with guided tutorials, praised by several users
Feature-rich free version compared to some competitors
Regular updates that have historically addressed reported security issues

Weaknesses

Perceived as overpriced relative to newer competing plugins
History of multiple security vulnerabilities requiring patching
Compatibility issues reported with certain themes like Divi

User Sentiment Analysis

With a 3.9/5 rating from 262 reviews, sentiment is mixed but leans positive overall: nearly 70% of reviewers gave 4 or 5 stars, though a notable 24.8% left 1-2 star reviews, pointing to a polarized user base.

Positive highlights

oxen130 (5★) says they are 'very pleased' with the plugin, highlighting how easy it is to use and set up with the included tutorial
tyd198025 (4★) calls it 'easy to use, useful plugin'
jnarvaez (5★) still rates it highly despite raising a minor question about counter updates without the wishlist page configured

Common complaints

Pricing seen as too high compared to alternative plugins, with limited meaningful updates to justify renewal cost
Compatibility problems with certain themes, such as shortcodes not working properly with Divi
SEO harm from thousands of indexable URLs generated by the plugin's wishlist query parameters, which persist even after removal

Weaknesses

A documented history of seven vulnerabilities, including medium-severity IDOR, XSS, and SQL injection issues in past versions
Some users report lingering technical side effects (like SEO-damaging URLs) that persist after uninstalling the plugin
Theme compatibility can be inconsistent depending on the site's setup

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Store owners already invested in the YITH plugin ecosystem who want a well-established, easy-to-configure wishlist solution and are comfortable keeping the plugin consistently updated to stay ahead of security patches.

Not ideal for

Budget-conscious users or those wary of past security vulnerabilities may want to look elsewhere, especially given the plugin's history of medium-severity IDOR, XSS, and SQL injection issues, plus reports of lingering SEO side effects and theme conflicts.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers core wishlist functionality—letting customers save products for later—along with basic customization and reasonably easy setup, which some reviewers found sufficient for simple use cases.

Pro version (94.99 USD / year)

The premium version typically unlocks features like social sharing, wishlist analytics, multiple wishlists per user, wishlist reminders, and deeper design customization, though several reviewers feel the premium pricing is high relative to competing wishlist plugins.

Final Verdict

YITH WooCommerce Wishlist remains a capable and widely used option, backed by an established brand and generally positive user experiences around ease of use. However, its security history is a real concern, with seven recorded vulnerabilities over the years including IDOR, XSS, and SQL injection issues, meaning site owners must stay diligent about updates.

Given the abundance of alternative wishlist plugins, some at lower price points and without a comparable vulnerability history, this plugin suits users already committed to the YITH ecosystem more than those starting fresh. Budget-sensitive buyers or those prioritizing a clean security record may find better value exploring one of the many listed alternatives.
