What It Does

Manage and limit post revisions for each post type to optimize your WordPress database. No coding is required.

Simple Revision Control is a WordPress plugin that provides an easy way to manage and limit the number of post revisions stored for each post type on your site. Unlike editing the wp-config.php file, which only allows setting a single revision limit for all post types, this plugin lets you specify a different revision limit for each post type individually. You can also enable or disable revision support per post type and delete unwanted revisions directly from the plugin’s settings.

This plugin is especially useful for site owners who want granular control over revision storage to optimize database performance and avoid unnecessary clutter, without needing to modify core WordPress files.

Final Verdict

Simple Revision Control offers a straightforward and free solution for managing WordPress revisions, with a majority of users appreciating its ease of use and effectiveness in cleaning the database. However, serious concerns arise from multiple reports of unintended deletion of pages and media, which can lead to significant data loss if backups are not maintained.

While it has no known security vulnerabilities and competes well with similar plugins, the risk of unpredictable content deletion makes it unsuitable for users who need reliable and safe revision management. Users should weigh these risks carefully and ensure they have proper backups before using this plugin.
