Who Should Use This?

Best for

Agencies, freelance developers, and site administrators managing multiple WordPress installs who want a free, proven connector plugin to pair with a MainWP Dashboard, and who are diligent about applying updates promptly.

Not ideal for

Users who cannot commit to fast patching cycles should be cautious: the plugin's history includes multiple high-severity authentication bypass vulnerabilities, including one as recent as mid-2026, meaning outdated installations pose real risk.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free MainWP Child plugin provides the full connector functionality needed to link a site to a MainWP Dashboard, enabling remote updates, monitoring, and management at no cost.

Final Verdict

MainWP Child earns its near-perfect user rating through genuine, repeated praise for the time it saves site managers juggling multiple WordPress installs. Reviewers consistently describe it as reliable, simple, and superior to other tools they've tried, and the complete absence of negative feedback content reinforces a strong overall reputation.

That said, the security record cannot be ignored: eight known vulnerabilities including two high-severity authentication bypass issues patched as recently as 2026 mean this plugin demands active update discipline. For users who stay current with releases, MainWP Child remains a trusted, free, and effective choice among its many competing alternatives; for those who let updates lapse, the risk profile is a genuine concern.
