Rich feature set for a free plugin, including a bypass URL for previewing the site while in maintenance mode
Polished, customizable templates that many users describe as stylish and professional
Simple setup process praised across multiple reviews
Strong reputation and high overall satisfaction among long-term users

Weaknesses

A notably troubled security history compared to many alternatives, with multiple past vulnerabilities including high-severity issues
No official pro version, so users seeking advanced page-building or premium support may need to look elsewhere

Who Should Use This?

Best for

CMP suits site owners who want a fully-featured, well-designed coming soon or maintenance page without paying for premium add-ons. Its bypass URL feature and polished templates make it especially appealing for freelancers and small business sites needing a quick, professional-looking placeholder page.

Not ideal for

Given its history of multiple vulnerabilities, including high-severity issues, security-conscious users managing sensitive sites should ensure they stay strictly current with updates or consider alternatives with cleaner track records. Those needing guaranteed premium support or advanced page-building tools may also want to look elsewhere, since no official pro version exists.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version delivers a surprisingly complete experience, including customizable coming soon and maintenance templates, a bypass URL to preview the live site, and straightforward setup, all praised repeatedly by reviewers as excellent value at no cost.

Final Verdict

CMP earns strong user loyalty thanks to its polished design, useful bypass URL feature, and generous free feature set that rivals paid alternatives. The overwhelming majority of reviewers are highly satisfied, with only a handful reporting activation issues.

However, its security track record is a genuine concern, with eight recorded vulnerabilities over the years, including high-severity access control flaws and a recent unauthenticated bypass issue. Users should keep the plugin diligently updated, and those managing high-security sites may want to weigh alternatives with fewer historical vulnerabilities before committing.
