What It Does

Chaty is a chat button designed to facilitate communication with your customers through their preferred messaging channels. With support for popular platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, and many others, Chaty allows your website visitors to engage with you easily.

This plugin offers over 20 chat icons, including options for SMS, email, and phone calls, providing a comprehensive solution for customer support. You can customize the chat buttons to match your website's design and choose which channels to display based on the page or visitor.

In addition to the free features, Chaty also offers a Pro version that includes advanced options such as personalized chat pop-ups, chat agents, and WooCommerce integration. This flexibility ensures that you can cater to your visitors' needs effectively while enhancing their experience on your site.

Comparing to Alternatives

Chaty operates in a crowded space of floating contact and chat button plugins, but its broad channel support and polish have made it one of the most widely adopted options in this category.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Supports a wide range of channels including WhatsApp, Telegram, Line, WeChat, SMS, and Call in one widget
Simple, intuitive setup that reviewers consistently describe as quick and beginner-friendly
Generous free version that covers most small business needs without upgrading
Responsive and helpful support team frequently praised by name in reviews
Flexible display rules allowing different behavior on desktop vs mobile

Weaknesses

Long history of security vulnerabilities across many versions, requiring diligent updating
Advanced customization and multi-widget features are locked behind the Pro tier
Feature overlap with many lighter, single-purpose alternatives may make Chaty feel heavier for simple use cases

User Sentiment Analysis

With 1,240 ratings and a near-perfect 98.8% five-star share, Chaty enjoys exceptionally strong user sentiment. Negative feedback is minimal, with only 0.4% of reviews falling into the 1-2 star range.

Positive highlights

Common complaints

Weaknesses

The plugin's changelog shows a recurring pattern of stored XSS and information exposure vulnerabilities across multiple versions
Several high-severity issues (CVSS 7-8) required urgent patching in past releases, meaning outdated installs pose real risk
No 1-2 star reviews are available to draw specific improvement points from, limiting insight into rare failure cases

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Chaty is well suited for small business owners, agencies, and site builders who want a fast, no-fuss way to add multi-channel contact buttons (WhatsApp, Telegram, SMS, Call, and more) without complex configuration. Its free tier is strong enough for straightforward use cases, and the support experience is repeatedly highlighted as excellent.

Not ideal for

Security-conscious site owners managing multiple contributor or editor-level users should be cautious, given the plugin's history of stored XSS and privilege-related vulnerabilities. It's also not ideal for those who forget to keep plugins updated, since several past flaws were only fixed in later releases.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers a genuinely capable floating chat widget with support for major channels like WhatsApp and Telegram, flexible display settings, and an easy setup process — enough for many small sites to never need to upgrade.

Pro version (49 - 179 USD / year)

The Pro version typically unlocks additional channels, multiple widgets with different targeting rules, advanced design customization, analytics, and priority support for users needing more granular control across larger or multi-branch sites.

Final Verdict

Chaty has earned its strong reputation through a combination of ease of use, broad channel support, and consistently praised customer support — reflected clearly in its near-perfect rating distribution. For everyday use cases like adding WhatsApp or Telegram buttons to a small business site, it performs exactly as promised with minimal friction.

That said, the plugin's lengthy vulnerability history is a legitimate concern that shouldn't be ignored, even though sentiment remains overwhelmingly positive. Prospective users should ensure they update promptly and weigh this security track record against Chaty's convenience and generous free feature set compared to lighter alternatives.
