What It Does

This plugin allows you to list the most recent posts with titles, thumbnails, excerpts, authors, categories, dates, and more in widget areas.

It is built on the WordPress default 'Recent Posts' widget but extends its functionality to show additional information like thumbnails and excerpts. The thumbnails can be derived from the featured image or the first image in the post content, with options to set default thumbnails if none are available.

The plugin is lightweight and simple, offering various customization options for post order, visibility, and display settings. It is also compliant with EU GDPR regulations, ensuring user privacy.

Comparing to Alternatives

Recent Posts Widget With Thumbnails sits in a crowded field of post-listing widgets, but its long track record and consistently high ratings set it apart from many competitors. Alternatives offer similar thumbnail display features, though often with different configuration approaches or added complexity.
