Top alternatives

Non-functional settings options, with certain menu items failing to respond when clicked

Weaknesses

Long history of 19 recorded vulnerabilities, including multiple critical SQL injection and XSS issues over the years
Recent medium-severity vulnerabilities as recently as early 2026 suggest ongoing security maintenance is necessary

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Users needing a feature-rich, easy-to-use popup builder for announcements, lead generation, or product page enhancements will likely find this plugin sufficient, especially given its strong overall satisfaction and support responsiveness.

Not ideal for

Security-conscious site owners or those managing high-traffic sites with many active popups should be cautious, given the plugin's extensive vulnerability history and reports of REST API-driven performance issues. Always ensure the plugin is kept fully updated to the latest patched version.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers core popup creation tools with a range of behavior and design settings, sufficient for basic to moderate marketing needs based on user feedback.

Pro version (49 - 149 USD / year)

A premium version typically extends functionality with advanced targeting, additional templates, deeper integrations, and enhanced analytics, common in this plugin category, though specific pro feature details were not detailed in available reviews.

Final Verdict

Popup Builder holds a strong reputation among its large user base, with a 4.7-star average built largely on ease of use and helpful support. However, its extensive history of security vulnerabilities—including multiple critical SQL injection flaws and recurring XSS issues over several years—is a serious consideration, even though each has been patched. Site owners must commit to prompt updates to stay protected.

Given the crowded competitive landscape, with dozens of alternatives offering similar or more modern functionality, Popup Builder remains a viable choice primarily for its maturity and proven satisfaction levels. That said, the reported performance issues tied to background API calls, combined with the security track record, mean cautious evaluation is warranted before deploying it on performance-sensitive or security-critical sites.
