What It Does

This plugin was created to make an exact duplicate of a selected post. Custom post types are supported, along with custom taxonomies and custom fields.

Note: Comments are not passed to the new post.

This plugin is simply meant to quickly and easily duplicate a post. Just hover over a post in the edit screen and select 'Duplicate {post_type}' to create a duplicate post.

I created this plugin mainly for myself when I am developing WordPress sites. I always need dummy content to fill out the look of a website and wanted a very quick and easy way to create multiple posts.

Comparing to Alternatives

Post Duplicator competes in a crowded field of page/post cloning tools, most of which offer similar one-click duplication functionality. Its long track record and high user rating set it apart, though its security history is worth weighing against newer or simpler alternatives.

Top alternatives

Consistently praised for fast, responsive developer support
Strong long-term reputation with 80 ratings averaging 4.8/5
Free and fully functional without upsells or feature gating

Weaknesses

Fewer advanced options (bulk duplication, scheduling) compared to some rivals
Contributor-level exploits found in past versions raise concerns for multi-author sites

User Sentiment Analysis

With 90% of ratings at 5 stars and only 3.8% at 1-2 stars, sentiment toward Post Duplicator is overwhelmingly positive. Reviewers consistently highlight its simplicity and reliable support, with almost no reports of dissatisfaction in recent reviews.

Common complaints

Weaknesses

Multiple past vulnerabilities, including a high-severity PHP Object Injection flaw, indicate recurring security oversight
Contributor-level authorization bypass issues suggest the plugin has needed repeated hardening over time
Sites with untrusted contributor accounts face elevated risk until fully updated

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Best suited for solo site owners, small teams, or trusted-editor environments who need a straightforward way to duplicate posts and pages without complexity. Users who value simplicity and responsive support will likely be satisfied.

Not ideal for

Not ideal for multi-author sites with untrusted contributors, given the plugin's history of contributor-level authorization and object injection vulnerabilities. Sites requiring strict security auditing should ensure they're on the latest patched version and monitor updates closely.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers full post and page duplication functionality with no artificial limitations, making it a complete standalone tool for most use cases.

Final Verdict

Post Duplicator earns strong user trust through simplicity, reliability, and excellent support, reflected in its 4.8-star average across 80 reviews and near-total absence of negative feedback. For basic duplication needs on trusted, small-team sites, it remains a popular and effective choice among a wide field of alternatives.

However, its record of nine known vulnerabilities—including a high-severity PHP object injection flaw—means site owners, especially those with contributor-level users, must stay vigilant about updates. Given comparable free alternatives with cleaner security histories, cautious users may want to weigh those options, while existing fans who keep the plugin updated should continue to find it a dependable tool.
