Comparing to Alternatives

Redirection for Contact Form 7 is one of the most popular redirect add-ons for CF7, competing with several other lightweight tools that offer similar success-page and conditional redirect functionality.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Widely used and trusted, with a strong 4.7-star average across 275 ratings
Simple setup that many users describe as working out of the box
Free version covers core redirect needs without requiring upgrades
Popular enough to be considered a near-essential CF7 companion by many reviewers

Weaknesses

Lacks built-in success/failure messaging after redirect, per user feedback
Promotional review prompts have caused frustration for at least one user

User Sentiment Analysis

With 89.8% of ratings at 5 stars and only 6.5% falling into the 1-2 star range, overall sentiment is strongly positive. Most reviewers praise the plugin's simplicity and reliability for handling post-submission redirects.

Positive highlights

"Works perfectly redirecting my membership form to the payment page" — scirceo
"Easy, working and free: what else you want?" — ebikepassion
"A great plugin that basically allows you to redirect users to a Thank You Page... with a lot of interesting options" — splendorcom
"Contact Form 7 should buy this and incorporate it into normal plugin functionality" — MattAdams
"Simple even for client to set it up" — thetj

Common complaints

A self-promotional review prompt/banner reportedly malfunctions, redirecting users to blank pages or 404 errors and cannot be dismissed

Weaknesses

Extensive history of 11 recorded vulnerabilities, including several high-severity issues like unauthenticated file copy and PHP object injection
Some users note the lack of built-in success/failure messaging after redirect completes
Security risk score of 6.2/10 suggests a pattern of recurring issues over time, even though each has been patched

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Site owners already using Contact Form 7 who want a straightforward way to redirect users to a custom thank-you or payment page after form submission, without needing advanced conditional logic or analytics.

Not ideal for

Security-conscious users or agencies managing sites where WordPress core and plugins aren't updated promptly, given the plugin's lengthy vulnerability history including high-severity issues like unauthenticated file copy and object injection. Users needing built-in success/failure confirmation messaging may also want to look elsewhere.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version provides core redirect functionality after CF7 form submission, including basic conditional redirects, which most reviewers report as sufficient for typical use cases.

Pro version (39 USD / year)

A premium tier is available, typically offering more advanced conditional redirect rules, additional customization options, and priority support, though most users in reviews appear satisfied relying on the free version alone.

Final Verdict

Redirection for Contact Form 7 earns strong user goodwill thanks to its simplicity and reliability, with the vast majority of reviewers praising how easily it handles post-submission redirects. Complaints are rare and mostly minor, aside from one frustrating report about a malfunctioning review-prompt banner.

However, the plugin's extensive security track record — 11 recorded vulnerabilities including several high-severity issues over the years — is a meaningful consideration. Users who keep plugins updated promptly should be fine, but those seeking a lower-risk option may want to weigh the listed alternatives, especially if security history is a priority alongside ease of use.
