What It Does

Header Footer Code Manager by 99 Robots provides an easy interface to add snippets to the header or footer of your pages. You can manage tracking codes, conversion pixels, and other scripts required by third-party services.

This plugin allows you to add an unlimited number of scripts and styles anywhere on your site. You can control which posts or pages the scripts load on and manage their injection locations, whether in the head, footer, or content area.

With device options, you can choose to show scripts on all devices or only on desktop or mobile. The plugin also supports various services such as Google Analytics, Facebook Pixels, and more, making it versatile for your tracking needs.

Comparing to Alternatives

Header Footer Code Manager competes in a crowded field of snippet-injection plugins, but its long track record and near-perfect rating set it apart from many newer, less-tested options.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Intuitive interface praised by non-technical users like editors and marketers
Ability to target snippets to specific pages rather than loading them globally
Long-standing reputation with years of consistent, reliable performance
Free version is generous enough that many users never feel the need to upgrade

Weaknesses

Past security history includes multiple medium-severity vulnerabilities, now patched
Some simpler alternatives may offer a lighter footprint for very basic header/footer needs

User Sentiment Analysis

With 309 ratings and a 4.9/5 average, sentiment is overwhelmingly positive—96.1% of reviewers gave 5 stars, and only 1.9% left a 1 or 2-star rating, indicating strong, consistent satisfaction across a large user base.

"Opened up a new universe of schemas and enabled me to improve my website" — fruitlessnoodle

Common complaints

Weaknesses

Historical vulnerabilities (CSRF, XSS, SQL injection) were found in older versions before being patched
No 1-2 star reviews are available to identify recurring pain points, limiting insight into edge-case frustrations

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Ideal for site owners, editors, and marketers who need a simple, reliable way to insert scripts, tracking codes, or custom styles into specific pages or site-wide without touching theme files. Its ease of use makes it especially popular with non-technical users.

Not ideal for

Security-conscious users managing older, unpatched installs should be cautious given the plugin's history of medium-severity vulnerabilities; ensuring the site runs a current version (1.1.35+) is essential. Those needing advanced conditional logic or snippet analytics may want to explore alternatives.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version covers the core need—adding header, footer, and body snippets with page-level targeting—and appears fully capable for most users, many of whom explicitly thank the developer for keeping it free.

Pro version (35 - 149 USD / year)

A premium tier typically extends functionality with advanced targeting options, priority support, or additional snippet management features, though most reviewers seem satisfied relying solely on the free offering.

Final Verdict

Header Footer Code Manager earns its strong reputation through simplicity and reliability, backed by an overwhelmingly positive user base and a near-flawless rating distribution. Reviewers consistently highlight its ease of use, flexibility, and stability over years of use, making it a trusted choice among both technical and non-technical WordPress users.

The plugin's security history, however, warrants a note of caution: four medium-severity vulnerabilities were identified and fixed between 2021 and 2023. As long as users keep the plugin updated, this shouldn't be a major concern, but it's worth verifying before deployment on sensitive sites. Given its free-tier generosity, ease of use, and large alternative field, it remains a solid pick for straightforward header/footer snippet management.
