AIOSEO is the original WordPress SEO plugin started in 2007. Today, over 3 million website owners and SEO experts use AIOSEO for higher SEO rankings.

Our users consistently rate AIOSEO as the most comprehensive WordPress SEO plugin and marketing toolkit. It is the fastest way to optimize WordPress SEO settings, add schema markup, create XML sitemap, add local SEO, track SEO keyword rankings, automate internal linking, perform SEO audits, and connect Google search console.

Comparing to Alternatives

All in One SEO competes in a crowded field of WordPress SEO plugins. It stands alongside major names like Yoast SEO and Rank Math, as well as lighter-weight options such as Slim SEO and The SEO Framework, giving users plenty of choice depending on whether they want a feature-rich suite or a minimal automated approach.

Top alternatives

Strengths

Beginner-friendly interface that simplifies complex SEO concepts
Comprehensive feature set covering sitemaps, schema, and search appearance
Highly rated, responsive support team praised across many reviews
Long track record and continuous feature development over nearly a decade

Weaknesses

Recently added AI Assistant features are intrusive and hard to disable
Longer history of security vulnerabilities compared to some newer competitors
Even paid tiers retain some forced branding and promotional elements

User Sentiment Analysis

With 90.5% of ratings at 5 stars and only 5.8% falling into the 1-2 star range, overall sentiment is strongly positive. Most reviewers praise ease of use and support, though a small but vocal minority has raised concerns tied to recent AI feature rollouts.

Positive highlights

"Very good feedback and service... Great help for me as a beginner" — kjellsortering
"One of the first plugins I install on essentially every WordPress website I build" — tonjahall
"You don't have to be an SEO expert to use it effectively" — djfido
"AIOSEO Pro es una herramienta fundamental para nuestro sitio de noticias" — Sergio
"It helps a lot, it's an indispensable plugin" — maxmaffia

Common complaints

AI Assistant elements (buttons, placeholders, floating blocks) are intrusive and cannot be easily disabled
Plugin functionality can break the editor entirely, causing a blank screen
Even Pro users cannot remove promotional 'generator' tags or fully control branding
Lack of documentation on how to turn off newly added AI features

Weaknesses

A long history of 22 known vulnerabilities, including a high-severity privilege escalation issue in the past
Recent AI Assistant rollout has generated real user frustration around control and opt-out
Some editor stability issues reported by long-time users

Who Should Use This?

Best for

Best suited to beginners and non-developers who want a guided, all-in-one SEO toolkit with strong support and a proven track record managing sitemaps, schema, and on-page optimization without needing deep technical knowledge.

Not ideal for

Not ideal for users who want a lightweight, minimal-interference plugin, or those wary of AI-driven editor features that are difficult to disable. Security-conscious users should also note the plugin's lengthy vulnerability history, even though issues have consistently been patched.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers core on-page SEO tools, sitemaps, and basic search appearance controls, enough for many small sites to get started with solid SEO fundamentals.

Pro version (49.60 - 299.60 USD / year)

The Pro version adds advanced features such as WooCommerce SEO, Google News sitemaps, schema markup generators, redirect management, and AI-powered writing assistance, along with priority support that reviewers frequently praise.

Final Verdict

All in One SEO remains a trusted, widely used plugin with an overwhelmingly positive rating distribution and loyal long-term users who value its approachable interface and responsive support team. However, recent complaints about intrusive, hard-to-disable AI Assistant features signal a real usability concern that the developers should address, especially for users who prefer a cleaner editing experience.

Given its extensive vulnerability history—including a past high-severity privilege escalation flaw—security-conscious site owners should ensure they stay current with updates. Compared to leaner alternatives like Slim SEO or The SEO Framework, AIOSEO offers more features but at the cost of added complexity and recent friction around AI integration, making it a strong choice for feature-hungry beginners but less appealing for minimalists.
