What It Does

WP Super Edit is designed to get control of the WordPress wysiwyg visual editor and add some functionality with more buttons and customized TinyMCE plugins. It acts as a framework for TinyMCE visual editor plugins and buttons, allowing administrators or users to arrange buttons and add TinyMCE plugins to the visual editor.

This plugin features a drag and drop interface for arranging the WordPress visual editor buttons and provides access to built-in WordPress visual editor buttons and functions. Additionally, it offers extra TinyMCE plugins to add buttons and features like tables, layers, advanced XHTML properties, and more.

WP Super Edit also allows for user-configurable visual editor settings, including role-based editor settings and individual user editor settings. Only WordPress administrators can activate or deactivate TinyMCE plugins and arrange editor buttons. The plugin is easy to install and remove, using separate database tables for settings and supporting multi-site configurations.

Pricing & Value

Free version includes

The free version offers basic enhancements to the WordPress editor, focusing on TinyMCE customization without any cost.

Final Verdict

WP Super Edit provides useful editor enhancements for older WordPress installations, but its lack of updates and unresolved critical security vulnerabilities make it a risky choice for current users. While some users appreciate its control over TinyMCE, many report it does not function as expected, especially on newer WordPress versions.

Given the availability of safer and actively maintained alternatives, users should consider other plugins unless they specifically need features for older WordPress versions and can manage the security risks. Overall, it is not recommended for most modern WordPress sites.
